a representation of reconnection with one’s roots and origins and the reminder of how by simply being, you are perpetuating a history, a culture, and a people
"Filipino people have a whole lot of character and funny visuals (ie. people on motorcycles with a cart attached to them to lug pigs around, casually spotting 5 people sitting on top of a public bus, etc). Mahal’s invoke that iconic imagery of Filipino life that takes these traditional images but presents them in a graphic/modern representation - so this collection can then be worn as an homage to the life/heritage/childhood back in the Philippines." - our collaborating artist, Camille Rapay
